I was hired to sand and finish a new wood floor that was installed by another contractor. Upon arrival, I had some concerns……..
I noticed the wood flooring was laid tight to the baseboards with little or no expansion gap in most places. Concern was made aware and sanding proceeded with a stain and finish applied.
Weeks later, I came back and walked through the site and noticed the floor was cupped and the trim was being pushed off the wall. The floor was tight now and had no room to move/grow. The painted trim with its caulking were gapped.
Remember to leave expansion gaps during floor installation!
