the floor is very worn from big dogs and commercial style cooking. Add the fact that the stinky Swedish finish has aged into a orange/yellow color.
Solution: Sand to bare wood to remove all old finish and dirt then apply new finish. However, instead of using Swedish finish, use “Bona Satin Traffic” a superior water based floor finish. Using this water based finish will mute the natural wood tones and replicate more closely a frosted stain look without staining, thus reducing a step.
Another benefit with the water based finish is the reduced environmental impact in the home and its occupants!
